[SOLVED] Google Page Rank: 0
My website does not have a Google page ranking, I submitted my site to goole around 3 years ago, so expected it to have one.
Google Message:
As of the 5th of December 2006, Google™ stopped issuing new SOAP API Keys.

Yes I think that's correct.
There are over 70 links to my website from top level domains that include relevant material specific to my website.

Re: Google Page Rank: 0
Capoeira Canal is currently 4th on page 1 of Google when using the search term Capoeira in Google, UK.
Is this not the same as Page Ranking? Page I understand is the name of the guy behind Google Inc. which created the system.

No, they are different concepts entirely.
PageRank is an absolute number assigned to your website; this ranks it among all websites. The numbers 0 - 10 represent broad divisions among this scale; these divisions are almost certainly logarithmic in ranking rather than linear (so 10 is many, many times better than 5).
When you do a Google search, however, the results are controlled by a relative ranking system: relative to the search terms.
Your site has a pageRank of 3, and Google.com has a pageRank of 10. But in a search for Capoeira, you beat Google.com in the rankings.
All other things being equal, pageRank 4 will beat pageRank 3. But the relevance of your content to a specific search term is the most important thing.

Mike, You do give very clear replies!
I wish my website was pageRank 3, at present it is 0/not ranked and I don't know why this is.

I wonder if Rob had anything to do with this? he said he would look into it, or maybe its down to all the new content I have added to the site?

New content will have helped. But most likely, the change simply reflects the recent refreshing of Google's pageRank toolbar information.
My site recently went from PR 0 to PR 2 (with no warlock-esque intervention from Rob ).

Don't stop link building 'coz that's the answer.... Maybe some of your previous backlinks was already deleted.. Focus on more IBLs rather than reciprocal linking....

Re: [SOLVED] Google Page Rank: 0
My site has now dropped to PR2 from PR3?
What can I do to find out why this has happened?
I have recently updated the layout of the site with the main feature being there are less pages, the content is the same, can this be the cause of the drop?
Thanks

Umm...
Google does like sites with lots of content, and in particular I believe it prefers lots of pages to a few giant pages.
But it's very hard to know. PR is always fluctuating. Your site could easily be sitting on the border between PR2 and PR3.

Re: [SOLVED] Google Page Rank: 0
404 not found
Is the a way of redirecting links to pages that no longer exsist? I am sure having 6 pages not found doesn't help.

Re: [SOLVED] Google Page Rank: 0
I have a lot of 404's but i'm guessing thats the googlebot trying to access 'cached' pages that just don't exist. SO how best to let IT know to go staright to the home page?

Re: [SOLVED] Google Page Rank: 0
Set a 301 redirect in a .htaccess and Google will follow it.
