Google analytics - definition?

We are using google analytics for some of our web sites.


The thing is that I don't really know the exact meaning of every indicator there.


Pageviews – what does it mean? I'm interested in the 'google' meaning.
My main interest is haw is the indicator 'pageviews' calculated on a flash web site.
I mean, for Cratima we get a higher figure for 'pageviews' in comparison with 'visits', and
we have only one link on the entire web-site. Does the javascript-code we've entered in
the source code read the number of events in the flash application.


Overall I find google analytics very interesting, helpful and free

Pageviews is the number of pages viewed and visits is the number of unique visitors.

EX: someone visits your site and looks at three pages - index, products and contact. In Google Analytics you will see. 1 visit, 3 pageviews.

If you have a flash based site, (i.e a flash animation on one page) with the Analytics javascript on that page, then as far as stats go, it will only tell you how many people visited that page (browsers, OS etc.). It won't be able to detect 'pages' accessed within the actual animation.
