different domains, same site?
I hope this is the right forum, since it's related to how they come up during a search...sort of
I have purchased several different domain names, and would like to have them all open the same single web site...
Can anyone explain how to do this?
Thank you~

Re: different domains, same site?
I would redirect to the Search Engine friendly URL. What domain names did you buy so we can see what would be your SE (search engine) friendly url...
PS - Im no SEO expert but if you have the same conent on each URL (without redirecting) you will get punished for duplicate content

Re: different domains, same site?
I'm sorry, the site is not up yet, it's still being designed. It's just domain names that sound similliar to the original, but I've never heard of duplicate content being a problem, although I don't know anything about it. I just thought that I could have several different names all go to the same site somehow, because I've seen it before?
thx

Re: different domains, same site?
Marc is right, if you have more than one page offering the same content you will get penalized for it.
To fix this you can use htaccess redirects.
If you want me to write one for you providing you give me the names of the domains you want to redirect.
If you don't care about search engines then by all means you can allow this, it's quite easy to do in cpanel.

Re: different domains, same site?
Can't you just point all your domains to one of them? Pick one ... the main one, and point all the others to that one?!?

Re: different domains, same site?
I will suggest you to try to get all domain hosted with different content, you can hire some content writer for adding content to your site or if you can manage by yourself.
I think redirecting all domain at a single site si of not much use.
Having different sites will help you to get some adsense revenue if you put them on your sites.
Also in near future you can think of selling such active domains as they are fully developed domains with good content.
IMO there is not much use of redirecting all your domains to a single site.

Re: different domains, same site?
In a bad way.
If you have the same content under different names you will get penalized.

Re: different domains, same site?
Try to make the coтеуте ща епру second site different, though related to each other, so that by optimizing both sites and putting links from one site to another you will be double to double your traffic.

Re: different domains, same site?
Yes, I am satisfied with Mark's statement that if you have several domain with same content without redirection than your website will get penalized by search engines.....
