Question About Alexa Traffic Rankings

Howdy Folks! I have a question. How reliable is Alexa Traffic Rankings. What is a good rank?

For My website, I rank around 1,400.000. Is that above or below average?

I think that is very good, I think.
I rely more on google PR.

Google PR depends very much on alexa ranking so i have heard. Do you have a Google page rank, pidipady?

According to my Google tool bar, 3/10. I don't know what it means. Alexa is an Amazon.com Co. which I imagine focuses on marketing.

This is martin, my website isn't having good position in Alexa. I have downloaded alexa toolbar & put alexa widgets on the website too but no improvement there. In fact, I heared alexa widget, redirections aren't effective. Is it true? Should I continue it or not?? Pls give your feedback here.

Hi Pidipady,

If you are a regular reader of Matt Cutt's Blog (FYI he is Google's engineer), you would have found out in his recent post how flawed the Alexa Traffic Ranking could be. We had recently thought of adding Alexa tool bar for measuring our site's popularity in the search engines. However, we dropped the idea soon after we read that post by Matt Cutt.

I think Google PR should be enough to know the popularity of a particular website in the world wide web. However, you should not too be preoccupied with the PR stuff as it is just a ranking and has little to do with your search engine ranking which of course if way too more important than the page rank of your website.
