[SOLVED] Google thinks my site isn't in the UK!?

Hi, recently google has decided that the site I work on, rightcareindex.com, isn't in the uk, as it is not showing the google's uk search, dispite being uk based.

I guess its because of the .com extension, however there are surely throusands of UK .com sites.

We own the rightcareindex.co.uk domain, however I have not submitted it to google, but it is only a simple page directing people to the main site.

Is there anything I can do to get google's uk search to pick up rightcareindex.com?

Cheers!
Geoff

Is your site hosted in the UK Geoff? My understanding is that Google will take account of the URL extension and/or where it is hosted. Also I believe having it listed in some UK directories helps identify it as a UK site.

its hosted with 1&1...so I guess maybe not in the UK. Do you think I should contact them about it?
I am working on getting listed in good directories, hadn't thought about them being UK sites or not..

Yes, Webforumz is hosted in the UK and is UK based and as such shows up for UK search results. They take into account the URL extension, and where the domain is hosted. Webforumz has a .com extension, but is hosted in the UK! Hope that helped!

This is a really strange one because my domain is registered with 1and1 (.co.uk extension) BUT my website is hosted with Site5 in the US. I show up in UK search engines!

It isn't that strange Marc, the search engines take account of a number of factors like we said, the extension, where it is hosted etc, you don't have to satisfy all of them in order to be shown as a uk site, just at least one of them.

Ok.. Looks like i am going to have to buy four (2 co.uk & 2 .com) more domains so i can do a test... One .co.uk hosted in the UK, one .co.uk hosted in the US and also the same for the .com.

Anyone think of domain names i can buy

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

S'pose i could get a life but there would be no room for me to fit it in with all the football that i have nowadays - its unbelevable (school, club, friends)! I also watch my local football team and national team on a saturday and play match on sunday. After all that, i have to go to school .

It could be a little project over the October holidays, afterall it will only take two seconds
