How long between self-submitting and SE results?
I'm working on a site and the client is eager to have the site come up in search engines ASAP. The site focuses on a topic that currently has little or no web presence, so ranking isn't an issue. If I self-submit to Google, Yahoo and MSN, how soon can I expect to see search results for certain key phrases?

Re: How long between self-submitting and SE results?
no Google can take months to index pages after they've been submitted. Although generally you'll be waiting about 4 weeks.
It dependes if its a brand new site or if its a site thats changed. If its a site that changed then the domain will already be indexed so ther robots will come look for any changes so that will be quicker.

Re: How long between self-submitting and SE results?
Yahoo and MSN are typically quicker than google. My experience with Google is anywhere from 2 weeks to 9 months.
Honest there is no rhyme or reason.

Re: How long between self-submitting and SE results?
Hard to believe it could take so long for a self-submitted site. I mean, if you just posted the site and then sat back and waited for the bots to come, then I could see where it would take months, but a self-submitted site?!?! Was Google's bot manufacturing facility wiped out by the earthquake in Peru? WTF?
