Search Engine Optimization

Hi
Can anyone advise the basics of how i can get my site on to a search within google?
I have a free tiscali site, but use a seperate registrar for my domain name.
I specifically want people to be able to find it ONLY if they type
in the name of the site i.e. the company and site might be called fghj.com.
i want someone to search fghj - and for the site to appear in google....

Any advice appreciated.
thanks

Re: Search Engine Optimization

google decides search results by how many links are to that page. So maybe write a few articles or something, anything to get a link to your site.

Re: Search Engine Optimization

Always setup a google webmaster tools account, allowing to verify your site with google, submit a sitemap...the list goes on - it will increase your chances of being indexed.

Re: Search Engine Optimization

It's really easy. Sign up for a google account if you don't have one. Then register for analytics at http://www.google.com/analytics/ They'll give you a snippet of code that you need to place on each webpage.

Re: Search Engine Optimization

It does not really matter if you use a separate registrar for your domain name. Give your site some time and usually it is not difficult to get your site appear in Google by searching your website URL, unless it is a very competitive keyword. Try to get back links and it should be fine.

I am little unsure about your query, but i think that you should try to block content of your website through robots.txt.

This will help to make your website appear on top pages for your domain name rather than any internal pages or keywords.

Then you probably won't need much SEO, as long as you have built a 'proper' website.

Re: Search Engine Optimization

Do you know about Google adwords? If you have free time, you may notice about it. You should have some links and backlinks in your web site. You may add articles which will be suplementary information to the content of your site. Also you have to choose special key words and word combinations suitable to the content. My point is that such things will increase your site`s page rank.
