Cool Keywords or no Keywords?

Hi all

Re: Keywords or no Keywords?

I believe in Google, meta tags are becoming increasingly unimportant, almost to the point of being ignored. However other search engines may use them especially the description tag for listing purposes.

Until there is absolute evidence that they are no longer required there is no harm in using them (my opinion).

I'm sure one of the seo members may give a better answer.

Re: Keywords or no Keywords?

pctank - 2006 - forget it - don't even read it - if you have an open fire it may be useful there.

Forget keyword density or any of that stuff.

What you do need is good title tags - look around here for stuff on seo. The title tag is the most important tag on your page - get this one right. So what do you want to be found for WebDesign Joe Blogs or Joe Blogs WebDesign or Web Design - notice the diference in web design as two words or one. In the Czceh republic people search for webdesign - in the uk they use two words.

So example - I have a small web design co in Ireland - my title tag "Web Design Ireland" I add a little more but that is what is right at the front of the tag.

Nonsense.
Keyword density and keyword prominence are very very very important.
Millions of pages on the web will mention certain words. What puts you ahead of the game is how often you use it within your content and how prominent it is within all the different sections of your content.

So at least you agree that keyword prominence is important.

Keyword meta tags alone won't help you rank well for a phrase. It's true that the importance of meta tags is decreasing. It is not true that keyword meta tags are worthless.

1. SEO isn't just about words, it's about quality.
2. One way SEs measure the quality of your content is to analyze how well your keywords match you content.
3. Therefore, it is important to make sure the phrases in your keywords meta tag match your content.

You can do well without the keywords meta tags, but you are safer by doing whatever you can to prove that your content is worthy of high rankings. SEO is about optimizing as many aspects of your content as you possibly can to improve your rankings. The keywords meta tag helps you do that...

I think the bottom line is: it's doesn't hurt to have them. Relevant keywords in the keywords meta tag can only benefit you.

Re: Keywords or no Keywords?

If your site is popular in search engines and content is updated timely then their is no need of keywords in meta tags. Use Keywords in title tag and content of the page related to your service with anchor text.

Proper keyword selection will always provide good search results for your website.Want to increase traffic, build credibility, improve your search engine rankings and get people talking about your business--at no cost? Then open up your word processor, and start writing. By determining your best search keywords, writing an article that includes those keywords and getting it distributed online, you'll be putting yourself on the radar of people looking for what you provide.

The density of keyword affects the ranking of your page. The higher the keyword density the higher is your rank so one should always include a 30-40 word paragraph containing key-word rich content, thus increasing the keyword density.

The keywords you have chosen should appear in title, Meta and H tags with some occurrence in the body also. So you should not define Google without putting the word Google in the body of the definition. This means H and P tags should go hand shaking with each other.

Keyword density is a ratio. Don't get hung up on exact numbers. More content should contain more keyphrases. Just keep the ratio at a reasonable level (arguably 10-15%).
