Learning SEO
Hi All
I would like to learn SEO both to promote my own website and to add to the services I can offer in the future.
What suggestions do you have for learning this subject.
Books, face to face tuition, online course etc
Which is the best course of action.
I do like the flexibility and simplicity of video tutorials and I have been using these to learn flash but does anyone know if there is such a thing for SEO

Re: Learning SEO
Yeh i wouldn't bother buying a book, not worth the money IMO.
I would take a at the many tutorials and questions on this site, then submit your site for a SEO critique
Hope this helps

Re: Learning SEO
If you want to learn SEO, then start your first lesson by logging into Google.com and following these steps :-
a) type "learn seo" or " seo tutorials", or " seo basics" etc etc
b) Click "I am feeling Lucky"
You will be surprised to see your results

Re: Learning SEO
Coversely, be aware that lots of rumour exists in the SEO industry. There are many things I disagree with thats touted in SEO circles.
With SEO, there are some basics and once you have the basics, the rest really is nothing more than trial and error - trial and error is the only way. SE's constantly change their algo's, so dont be afraid to experiment.. sit back wait a month... evaluate, tweak some more.... rinse and repeat.

The best SEO can be learned while working on a live project. You can work as a beginner seo with some company, and I am sure you will pick up fast.
Books are good, but those books only contain information in a closed loops. You will get real leap only while working on a live project with some SEO professional who can guide you through various issues of SEO.

Re: Learning SEO
SEO is not a one day process, you need to be patient. There a lot of online resources available about SEO. Just what like Rob said, learn the basic of it and from there, you can have a good foundation of SEO...

Yep , Quite true
You can gain real SEO knowledge only while working on live SEO projects. Books are just a guide which can tell you about what a GEAR BOX, HORN, BRAKE is all about.
You can only learn real driving while driving on a busy road on your own
In a similar fashion you need to test those skills while working on live projects.
