Advice on improving google rankings

Hi,

I have had a website designed for me:
http://www.law-essay.com

In order to assist me in going up the google rankings, I have joined several UK law student and tutor forums and posted there.
Should that be a big help in being noticed by Google?

Any comments/advice welcome.

Thanks,

PS) I have no idea whether I have filled in the Technologies field correctly!

Re: advice on improving google rankings

Nice looking site - feels a little empty though. The text is quite sparse and feels like it needs containing. The header is very bare, and Law-Essay.com is extremely small - why not make this a nice, big, logo-like graphic?

If you want some direct SEO advice, head over to the SEO forum, and don't forget to mention the keywords you want to target

Hi trophy,

Are you just looking for SEO advice or a full critique? If it's just SEO I'll move this to the SEO forum, if not, it's good here.

Cheers,

Jack

Are you saying that the Home Page is a little sparse and that I should put more text in and make the logo larger. Or do you mean the site generally?
I didn't want to repeat sentences that I have in the About Us page.

This is what don't understand; when the Google spider reaches a website, does it lose interest if the Home Page isn't that good even if the other pages are fine?

Re: Advice on improving google rankings

Not necessarily more text, you just need to lay it out a little better. Try grouping them into larger, more distinct paragraphs. Also try adding some more padding to the left, just to make the text a little more central.

Yes, make the logo larger. Better, make it a logo - at the moment it's just plain text. Why not 'spice it up' a bit? Use a nicer font? Add a graphic? Definitely larger anyhow.

When you say does Google 'lose interest', and the end of the day it's just a bot - it's not exactly Stephen King What I'm saying is, so long as you have text and links on your site, Google will spider it as best as it can

What keywords or keyphrases are you aiming to target i.e what searches do you want to get results for on the search engines?

It is indeed a good website but the sad part is that you haven't optimized for it correctly to get it cached and indexed .Google is a different SE and to get your website recognized by Google you have to do certain things.Read about it in detail here.
