Re: noloafing.co.uk
Sorry Simon, without being rude, I would say you should not be blogging about SEO at all with the pure state of your code and "randomly inserted metatags" and ninja'in content from other sites.
Infact Id class your website as hard to read the links down the righthand side are totally unreadable. I cant f***in belive how you got the code so f**** up in wordpress it is so beyond me... It makes me question if you know what your doing at all... Here is the top of my Wordpress Blog...
Now lets have a gander at yours, BEARING IN MIND WE USE THE SAME SEO PACK!
And a link off of your page... Quote:

Search engines don't care how "clean" your code is, as long as they can parse it for content and links. Clean code is irrelevant except in so far as it affects your workflow, file sizes, or page rendering speed. |

After all, there are a lot more stupid people out there than smart people (although that may be because I consider < 120 IQ to be stupid). Find me some evidence! Then you have an argument. Otherwise, your claim is a priori implausible, given what we know about Google's motivation (which is to rank the best content, not the best code). Re: noloafing.co.uk
Mike, its a well known fact, google prefers less code and more content!
Bloody hell man if your codes a mess it can get spiders stuck in loops and timeouts... damn! |

Most people are wrong about most things most of the time. That's epistemology 101. Epistemology 102 is: everyone is wrong about everything all of the time. Anyway, there are only two conditions that are likely to result in a spidering failure:

Re: noloafing.co.uk
100KB is about the top end file size per HTML, if you dont use CSS and have sloppy code, a site could easily hit that cap.
Now, I've emailed google to see if I can get a result out of this, I've also emailed Matt Cutts from Google, hopefully ill get a response from him too. However clean code makes sense, it will atleast make parsing your sites quicker, and less chance of missing links. |

Spiders are programs. They are not human. They don't suffer from eye strain. They don't just "miss" a link as a human might. Within the resource limits set for parsing, they are infinitely patient and accurate. |

Not trying to rock the boat but just as an observation, take a look at Microsoft's <head>
Ok, so this might not be conclusive 'evidence', but they don't exactly do bad for ranking.

Re: noloafing.co.uk
hee heee....that's not the way buddy leave it if you doesn't like..Still I want to add that the title seems little too big and this must be short down and I don't see any problem with the other meta tags. You can add little more keywords if you like..

Thankyou please Oh and Alexgeek, thanks mate, I was abit harsh, but sometimes its the only way of getting through, and although I have heavily slated him, I have done so, I assume in a manner to which he could hopefully learn more, as I do tend to back my arguements up pretty well Last edited by karinne; Jan 17th, 2008 at 12:29. |
