1. Create a gmail account.
2. Go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/ and click on the icon for Improve traffic with Webmaster Tools You'll get some very useful info in there. |

Re: my website and google recognition
It is quite normal for your website to not be showing in google yet.
You will (as a new site) be stuck in whats known to the SEO industry as the google sandbox. This is a bain for any new site as it dampens all of your SEO efforts. However it is also a period that gives me 'personally' some peace of mind. During a sites time in the sandbox, you dont need to worry about ranking, because you very seldom will. This allows you to concentrate all of your efforts on making sure your onpage SEO is spot on, and the chance to build a plethora of links whilst you wait for natural organic stable rankings to emerge. Keep doing what you are doing and remember to keep adding fresh content to your website.

Re: my website and google recognition
Well, I have to disagree with you Rob. While it is normal, it's not necessarily, erm, necessary (lol) to have to wait.
In fact, waiting is just crazy! This is business, you make a living out of this so go out there and do whatever you can to help your potential clients find you. Have a quick run through this page and submit your URL to major search engines - just to make sure - then find as many directories as you can and submit yourself to them, starting with FreeIndex. Now to a very key point: you asked "is it normal to not be showing up in googles search engine yet?", but what did you search for? You can only be found in a search if you have content to match that search. I'm sure your website will never show up in a search for cheap holidays in magaluf, but you probably want to appear in the results for "driving lessons in Birmingham" and "driving school Birmingham". Take a look at those websites and familiarize yourself with their content because essentially, that's what got them to the top. Also, once you have a Google account as Acdra suggested, do the following: Simple: Google Analytics - let's you analyse if, when and how people find your site. Simple: Google Local - geographically based search Advanced: Google sitemaps - literally chat to Google about your website. This is more technical but is an useful way to find and fix problems...

Anyway, spinal007 is quite right.... dont put all your eggs in one (google) basket and do the SEO you can do via other engines and directories and strategic link placements.

Re: my website and google recognition
Hey Rob, the only bit I disagreed with was the waiting. I know that you know all this stuff. And I know you know I know! LOL
I realised why you took that approach and that's why I decided to show just how much you can do in SEO so there really is not time to be waiting around...
