domain and host set up

Good afternoon all,

I need a little help as im a we bit confused.

New site being built, regarding seo, i have the option to have another domain name ect and when a customer clicks on the url friendly name they will be directed to main domain with the new built web site,

IMHO there is no need for other domain and redirecting it to main domain rather concentrate on your main domain try to get backlinks, update content and all SEO stuffs .... if you think your compititor will grab your domain name with different tld for getting your traffic then you can think for them but according to me not at all necessary for running behind all other parked domains for getting traffic at main domain.
