Re: Google Gone Strange
You website is http://safehandsbabysitters.com/.
But the link to your homapage is http://safehandsbabysitters.com/index.html. http://safehandsbabysitters.com/ and http://safehandsbabysitters.com/index.html are the same page under 2 different URLs - duplicate. Some search engines now allow for this, but it could also be argued that http://www.safehandsbabysitters.com/ and http://www.safehandsbabysitters.com/index.html are also duplicates of your homepage. What you need to do immediatlley is change your links to the homepage so they point to / instead of /index.html. In the long run, use scripting to enforce the www.safehandsbabysitters.com domain instead of safehandsbabysitters.com (or vice-versa, whatever you prefer). If you want a book or a checklist, the stuff I said above is plenty to make a huge difference. Just refer back to this thread... PS.:

Re: Google Gone Strange
The duplicate page thing is a really confussing thing to me I don't know how to fix the problem and don't understand where the problems lies. Is it with my hosts, with my site, I'm I missing a bit - google webmaster tools doesn't report and error so I'm a bit at loss to know what or how to fix it. I understand what you mean but a fix - not a clue?

Re: Google Gone Strange
DrWEB find this code:
When you landed on your page you landed on http://safehandsbabysitters.com/. If you left the homepage and then came back to the homepage the address was http://safehandsbabysitters.com/index.html. The exact same page but two urls. That's duplicate content. Change that link above on ALL pages. |

Re: Google Gone Strange
I have to say I agree coz the whole concept baffled me but now I've sorted it (DOH) I understand - I tried Googling it coz I don't like bugging but nothing.
All in all I see what effect a simple thing like this can have on a site and how easy it is to put right. Dave |

Re: Google Gone Strange
We should have a sticky! I'm take a look later in the SEO forum and see what's there and see how we can revise it.
