Website Templates for Teens and Kids

Hi,

I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure if anyone else posted a similar thread to this one.

I'm a webhost and I'm looking for a website template software that is either geared to or usable for teens and kids.

I have seen many types of software that is more geared to adults but I need one easy enough for kids to understand. And of course there also has to be many templates with attractive graphics that teens and kids will like.

Lastly, I would prefer to find software that allows me to upload new templates that don't come with the package.

Any suggestions?

:::Thanx :::
P.S. Suggestions for blogging templates will be great too!

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

children are perfectly capable of using the standard software's avalible, some of the best designers on this site are only between the ages of 12 and 15

these guys are very very good at what they do ( far better than most adults - myself included - i have put some on webforumz staff for this very reason ), and to provide a 'kids' website design software, i think if i was really honest, would be insulting

p.s - would you be surprised to learn, that i have taught my 7 year old daughter to use dreamweaver ?, she is now producing very very basic ( but valid ) websites using xhtml and css ( minimal skills, but she is a very fast learner ) .

I agree, i do not class myself as one of these people who are,

but i can vouch for the fact that a LOT of great web designers are classed as (not by me i hasten to add) kids.

When i started off i wanted to use the same software as the "pros" did, i did not want to use some low quality kiddie software that did not do half the things that i wanted. I am sure this applies to a lot of the people on here.

What i am trying to say is that if you are wanting for some-one, an easy to use piece of software for starting off in web design, then i can reccommend this 100% free software called notepad, it is easily available for all windows users and has possibly the easiest learning curve that i have encountered.

If a "kid/teen" as we are frustratingly called wants to learn how to become a web designer, then there is always the oppurtunity to start of on a basic text editing software, and if this "kid/teen" wants to progress then there is plenty of free help in forums such as these.

PS, i am not stereotyping here but on in a lot of cases, i have found that the under 18 population is a lot better at getting to grips with computer software than a lot of adults

Rant over

Craig

If a "kid/teen" as we are frustratingly called
why is that frustrating ?, at the end of the day, that is what anyone under the age of 18 is under the eyes of the law ( in the uk ),

i would be proud to hold the so called 'stereotype' 'kid' again, because in my eyes, it does not only mean 'not fully matured', it also means you have a world of possibilities open to you - what i would give to be called a 'kid' once again and be given the opportunities you have to look forward to...

i think its something to be proud of and to grab all opportunities as they come your way, not sneer at them and say that being called a 'kid' is 'frustrating'

especially intelligent 'children' like yourself, it just means that you are likely to grow into a very intelligent and mature adult ( it also means you will be treated like an adult by your peers sooner than normal )

i dont see it as an insult, i see it as a compliment, probably sounds silly to you, but wait a few years - i am 27 - and i bet your outlook on that word will change as you mature

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

I see what you mean lol, i think i need to rephrase my previous post, what i was getting at is that its frustrating when people look down at you and your abilities when your young, (not saying this it what coolwebhost is saying id just like to add ), and personaly i am loving the freedom of being young, apart from the countless exams n the odd relationship problem life's great lol

anyway back to the software...

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

i treat people as i see them, if i see a childs outlook on life, they will be treated as such, if i see an adults outlook, i treat them as adults ( within a 'protective boundary' of course - not so restrict or control, just to protect )

you will probably find that's how most adults work, tbh, some don't, but that's only because they are having difficulty looking beyond the body and seeing the person

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

Yeh i know what you mean, i no i am not exactly old but there are a lot of people younger than me who are a LOT more talented, that is one of the best thing about the Web, it allows people of all ages to get into something that they love and enjoy and allows them to master a skill, a profession even at a very young age.

There is not a lot of other career options that allow that.

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

Agreed Craig, I would consider myself 'capable' at HTML & CSS, with a tad of PHP done as well, and I am confident with PHP & MySQL databases, but I don't even want to be a Web Designer in the future! I just enjoy doing it.

I use Dw, Ps, but before I got dad to buy them I just used Notepad and GIMP! But then when dad got Dw and Ps I thought I should upgrade and never looked back

My effort is not to be insulting to kids or to undermine their capabilities. I also have a seven year old son who I have recently started to teach basic html code to.

So I don't believe they are incapable. I'm also not surprised that your 7 year old daughter learned how to use dreamweaver.

I also intend to provide tutorials on html and allow them to promote any templates they have designed themselves.

My intentions with providing a software is for youth that have not yet learned the skills to build their own website. It's not for kids like your daughter who already knows the skills.

Being really honest, I will say, it would have helped to get some good advice and suggestions instead of being shut down.
I'm new to this forum and would appreciate support . That's why I signed up here in the first place.

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

My message was not intended to undermine the capabilities of kids or teens. If I didn't believe in their skills then I don't think I would even make this much effort to work with them.

I was a teen too and hated being underestimated.

I'll consider the advice you put about notepad for beginners. Thanks for your input.

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

no, dont get me wrong, i was not trying to 'put you down' i was just stating that at the end of the day, children are capable of learning this stuff, better than adults

and a 'childs software' would not help them at all, if you want to get kids into design, you are better off with tutorials, and maybe a few online tool, of which already exist on the web, can be downloaded and used on other sites, this will teach then alot faster than a programme ever could

they require resources not 'easy software'

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

I do not like the stereo type of a child web designer though I mean I don't like these kids who try to lie about there age(sometimes I can understand mind) and act as a professional company rather than a learner like practically everyone else is. But most teenagers who do web design are NOT like this, but teenagers sometimes have a bad reputation because of people who are immature or say things they shouldn't.

Re: Website Templates for Teens and Kids

sorry Ducky, i think you have mis-understood what a 'script kiddie' is
a 'script kiddie' is a hacker who uses pre made scripts to break into websites, it is probably the furthest thing you could ever get in relation to children and teenagers
