Hallo all!
What is better Golive or Dreamweaver? I know that Golive is more orientated towards the designer, with the nice touchs such as drag and drop. However does the automation of tasks restrict your capabilities in golive? Also can you design a login function in golive? do you use the forms buttons? is something todo with PHP? Thanks Peace Tommy tooooT |

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver
Moved to Design & Development Software
To be honest, I have never used GoLive, but Dreamweaver is pretty much almost 100% the industry standard.

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver
I would also guess that since acquiring Dreamweaver, Adobe are trying to phase out GoLive.
In which case, like Jack says, stick with Dreamweaver for the long term.

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver
Just a quick hint - If you can find DreamWeaver 8 and it's a lot cheaper than Dreamweaver CS3, go with it. I personally find the differences between DW8 & CS3 very little. (I have DW8 here but have used CS3 whilst on Work Experience. I noticed very very little difference - although if you have Fireworks CS3, Photoshop CS3, and everything CS3, the integration bit is handy sometimes).

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver
If you have cash to spare then i would get a CS3 package, but, if you are the average user and not the son of either a millionaire or an adobe employer
I have got CS3 at home, (not rich id just like to add, just have good friends What is it you are going to be using it for?

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver
Thanks for all your responses!!
I have both packages, on CS2. My question is really based around capabilities, I plan to create a ecommerce site. I suppose if there are any problems with go-live you can import the site into dreamweaver and edit that way. But dreamweaver drives me nuts sometimes. |

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver

I have CS3 at home, i come to work and have to use MX!!! |

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver
Adobe GoLive is (was) basically Macromedia's 'Dreamweaver' alternative.
Of course, since Adobe acquired Macromedia, and since Dreamweaver was considered the standard, Adobe fully adopted Dreamweaver and it seems are now starting to phase out GoLive.

Re: Go-Live Vs Dreamweaver
Hmm, well not really the answer I was looking for.....but nice to chat anyways
Yer Go-Live is : software allows both web professionals and graphic designers to visually create sophisticated, CSS-based content. Design graphics in other Adobe applications and bring them to the web with ease, using familiar tools and concepts. didnt know that it was discontinued.....oh well Its a nice piece of software, easy to use, well for me |
