Newbie here
Hi I know nothing about server side scripting but I posted here http://www.webforumz.com/starting-ou...htm#post330814
I wanted to know how to create a form that lets a user upload their own files to the website and other people can download the uploaded files. Besides this I wanted a login system that knows if the user is logged in when they try to download and if they aren't, direct them to the login/register page. I was told in the above link I need to get familiar with server side languages PHP or ASP. I asked which would be better for a total newbie and was recommended PHP as it isn't overly complicated. Whether that's true I don't know but anyway... I downloaded and installed XAMPP and this is where I am at now and have no clue what I need to do now. Can anyone get me going by giving me some steps I need to take or anything will help. Thanks |

Re: Newbie here
I definitely agree that PHP is the way to go.
Tizag.com has great tutorials on it. PHP.net is where you want to go to find a specific function, it has documentation on every function and library. Tizag should have a file upload tutorial. I say the next step is to go through one or two of the tuzag tutorials and make sure its working alright in XAMPP.
