Question php programmer R and R's

Not entirely sure this thread is in the right place but...

I would just like to ask if someone could explain to me the roles and responsibilities of a PHP programmer as I have to write about them in an assignment. Also the roles and responsibilities and website designer, graphic designer, and Flash programmer would help alot

Thank you

Re: php programmer R and R's

I'll guess I'll have a brief bash at this not sure if I'll explain properly.
A PHP developer's roles is t o develop systems for a website and there responsibility is to keep the systems running smoothly, troubleshooting errors when necessary.

Am I on the right track?

Re: php programmer R and R's

A context sensitive question if I've ever heard one.

Being a PHP programmer as variable as the programmer themselves. From a personal standpoint when I code for myself, I want to innovative and clever, I want my code to work and do things that aren't done regularly or are done often but not very well. I want my code to be abstract and object oriented, making sure that there is a degree of separation between the code and the output. My responsibility is to continually improve the code I write for myself with the abstraction allowing for ease of alteration when I see somewhere I can improve efficiency.

When I code for other people I develop what the client asks for, I don't add unnecessary features because they 1) won't be understood 2) weren't asked for 3) may introduce bugs to the code that you are selling/have sold. The code I write needs to be efficient and well tested, code test, code test, code test, test test test again to make the scripts as bulletproof as possible.

Depending on the scale of the project the code also has to be flexible and expandable. It should be well commented so that if another programmer comes into the script, they can pick up or extend what I have already written... If I come into code halfway written my role is to understand the program before attemptng to patch into it, this includes reading the script and all comments to ensure that I don't break anything when I start to add modifications..

I could go on but the defined role and responsibility of a PHP programmer is from the individual dictionary of the coder...

Hope that helps a bit
