Re: Wysiwig

Hmm I@ll do a regex replace to replace it with "<span style="underline">".
I'll post the code if I get chance.

Re: Wysiwig

I personally prefer Tiny to FCK but thats probably because Ive used it more.

I came across 'Xinha Here' the other day but have not yet had a proper look at it. Its interesting though as it plugs right into Firefox and the reviews seem very positive.
Heres the link
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1449

If anyone knows of any problems with 'Xinha Here' Id love to know before I go and spend a few hours with it.

Re: Wysiwig

@alexgeek

Just had a look and yeah it does.
It also adds tons of erroneous code. Like an open p tag followed directly by a closing p tag - for apparently no reason.
In fact I don't like the wysiwyg side of it at all - the whole content area shakes and to stop it you have to minimise and maximise it.

That said I am keeping it and think its a very good addition to Firefox.
Using Xinha Here in code view with FireFTP and Firebug open I can test, edit, upload and do all my dev (apart from image editing) in one program.

Bargain...

Re: Wysiwig

Thanks Nortus, I guess I will try to handcode all my blog entries although I might add a button that inserts strong/em/link tags for quick access.
If it's good I'll publish it.

Re: Wysiwig

In the end I used fckEditor.

I found the installation instructions very un-helpful and time consuming. But once you get your heads around how to get it working, I did like it and have implemented on a few sites.

I have to say though, for such a nice product, if the developers just spent a little more time on its installation documentation, it might just increase its use.

I am sure that there are many people like me that just would have given up on it.

Also the sample file/s should be separate from the actual fckEditor file, so we could see how to reference it from an external point of view which is how the rest of the world would use it.

in a nutshell - great product - horrible support.
