php message board - delete inappropriate messages
I have a php message board, created from a wizard, which allows 'admin' to delete unwanted messages. However, inappropriate messages were posted and when I tried to delete, which normally works, a warning came up mentioning the header section and I was unable to delete.
As an immediate remedy I have commented out the 'sign' function in the code. Question: how can I edit such unwanted messages? Together with the .php came a gb.dat file and a error_log. I tried to open the gb.dat file on the server but was unsuccessful. What I was looking for was a record of all messages posted thus far. |

Re: php message board - delete inappropriate messages
Hi Ross
php powered board? So sorry, but I am a novice and don't understand this terminology and what it implies. Could you explain it a bit more? I will give you the link so you can see for yourself http://www.announcewedding.com/demo/...ssageboard.php A password seems to be the answer but could this be by-passed as well? Thank you for taking an interest. Gabriele |

Re: php message board - delete inappropriate messages
The message board php script I am using is vulnerable and open to malicious abuse, i.e. posting inappropriate content.
What can be done about this? My knowledge of php scripting is zero as is my terminology - any replies in plain language, please! |

Hi Dan
thank you for your reply. A forum would not be suitable - what is 'vanilla'? If you have a link, please let me otherwise perhaps you could expand on this? Thanks Gabriele |

Re: php message board - delete inappropriate messages
I will try this forum, thanks.
About 'admin': the party posting the unwelcome messages by-passed this part of the script somehow and, when trying to delete in admin, an error message appeared, disabling the 'admin' facility, however, conventionally posted message can still be deleted via admin. To resolve this, the only options were, within the limits of my knowledge, to re-create the gb.dat file and comment out the relevant part of the script. I will try to make further enquiries with my hosting company. Thanks again |
