Need to build a "Trip" or "Journey Planner"

hello. i need to build an app which will be a "Trip Planner" not unlike what you see here, which they call their "Journey Planner"

mine doesn't have to be the most complex, all the bells and whistles type thing like the one at my URL example, which even calculates bus fare, but i will need to be able to access several different bus line schedules-- in my city they are identified by letter, as in, "take the 'N' route to the 'V' route to the market, then take the 'NV Express' home".

i'm not sure exactly what will be involved, but i'll have to enter a lot of "bus stop" info, and time-of-day info. i'm still formulating the concept in my mind, but if anyone has ever tried something like this, of if you know of a tutorial, or anything that might help me, ideas on which PHP Functions i should study, or Functions i should make, etc-- even other URL examples as i've provided above-- i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks!!!

am i crazy for taking on this project? to me, it doesn't seem like it's going to be all that difficult. we don't have that many bus schedules for one thing, so it's not that much data for me to even work with. maybe 20 at the most. probably more like 10 different routes.

For this you would need access to road/bus database.

Because for example a bus time changes etc.

everything so far seems fairly easy. i was provided w/ an existing timetable of bus-stops. i don't understand why most peoples' reaction is as if the project is going to be such a challenge.
i foresee the difficulty will be in determining bus-transfers, but other than that-- it seems pretty straight forward.

depends on how many routes, servies and changes you have to look at....over here theres a bus every ten minutes so were talking 300 busses an hour!!
