Re: CakePHP
This is really funny 'cause I was looking into CakePHP a few days ago.
I often visit Snooks' blog and he's got his running with Cake. I assume you also when to CakePHP.org and checked out CakeForge? I'm kind of where you're at too ... with all the noobie questions |

Re: CakePHP
AAAARRGGHHH! ( I just wrote a huge post and it didn't send! )
Anyway, the jist of it was... I've been using cakephp for 6 months at work and it's great, very flexible although it can be a bit of a nightmare when starting out as the documentation can be ambiguous... You can just have it as a folder in your hosting account, there is a little bit of setup that can be confusing at first. You shouldn't need anything other than PHP4 or 5 and MySQL. Haven't tried the ZEND framework as it's not yet at a stable release... Although, if it's anything like the ZEND app, I imagine it would be good. If you do decide to go with cake, I'm happy to help you out. Overall I'd recommend it, it has sped up development for me so much and a lot of the code is reusable after some tweeking. Cheers, Jim. |
