dreamweaver site to database
Hello, im trying to start a database in Dreamweaver, and am trying to connect DW to MYSQL, however, where i create a connection in DW and click MYSQL Connection after i type in the information the following error message pops up when i click test..
HTTP Error Code 404 File Not Found. Here are some possible reasons for the problem: 1) There si no testing server running on the server machine. 2) The testing server specified for this site does not map to the http://www.geocities.com/isintg_mmServerScripts /MMHTTPDB.php URL. Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site. What do i need to do to start creating my database? I'm on Windows Vista...is this a problem? I've more or less sorted out installing PHP, Apache and MYSQL...so i'm slightly stuck as to where to go next. I am starting the database and web site from stratch! Any ideas guys! Thanks Rob |

I don't think you can use either on Geocities. |

Re: dreamweaver site to database
ok, i see...what host can i use then? Apache? What do i have to type into DW to get it to recognise to use this host?

Re: dreamweaver site to database
Apache is not a host!
Apache HTTP Server ... is a web server ... kinda like IIS is a web server. I doubt there's a free host out there that offers all this. You'll have to pay. Have a look at the threads in the Hosting section of the forumz. |

Re: dreamweaver site to database
ok...thanks
can i not just set this database up in DW anyway without using a host, this website is a project for university, so it doesn't actually have to be available online...it just has to work! |

Re: dreamweaver site to database
DW has NOTHING TO DO with databases!!! It's an editor to create web pages.
If this is a project for university, then your teacher should have explained all this or where to get your information. If you need to give a link as your project report then you need to have this hosted somewhere, online. |

Re: dreamweaver site to database
yes, im quite aware that DW creates web pages, but can't you use the Dynamic text and forms feature in it to link it with MySQL to make a database?
What I mainly need to do is, be able to fill in a form on my web site, send it, and be able to send information back to the user...kind of like an order form. No, actually at university there is a thing called independant learning, we don't have anyone holding our hands through life anymore! |
