php forum - private messaging
hey guys
i'm trying to develop my own simple forum at www.bpcu.co.uk/forum and i'm quite proud of what i've managed to do so far! however, i would like to introduce private messaging, but am not sure how 2 go about this... i've done it on another site before, where there is one table with a to, from, date and message fields. then it selects only the ones where the "to" field is equal to your user id etc. however, i was wondering if this was the best way, seeing as if someone deletes a message, it gets deleted from the other person's sent box.... just wondering how the main forums like this one and snitz and vbulliten do it... is there a more efficient way? |
