Trying to make a raffle system

Hi all!

I'm somewhat new to web design and almost have my site done. The site I designed and built is for an off-roading club that I am part of. As a fund raiser we are going to have a public raffle. I need to set up a way for folks to purchase raffle tickets on the web site and I need to be able to store there info so when a winner is chosen I will be able to contact them. I'm pretty new to the coding aspect of web design. Does anyone have any suggestions or tutorials? I used Dreamweaver 8 to build the site so I am somewhat familiar with it.

If you need to take payments over the net it could be difficult setting up your own system.

I would have a look at Paypal. They do a 'donations account' that allows you to take all sorts of payments over the net with credit cards or other paypal accounts. I would guess that the donator would have to enter their details as well so you could use this for people you need to contact.

It's secure and people know the brand as well. Worth a look.

PHP and MYSQL are your best bets (if you didn't know that already). I'm still learning myself. It can be a long battle to get to grips with. You also need to look at the legal aspects of an online raffle. I think that raffles fall under the 'lottery' category. Is your club a charity, government run? Basically you are betting online. Which is a problem until they change the law (UK). US is different state to state.
