looking for a php editor

A quick question,

I am looking for an php script editor

I have been using PHP Designer and like it. Before I buy to pro version, thought I'd check around to see if anything better out there.

Anything else recomended? Freeware or $$.

Thanks!

David

Re: looking for a php editor

Zend Studio is excellent, especially for object-orientated stuff...

I still tend to use dreamweaver though, as I cant be bothered using different apps for css/html editing.

I only use Dreamweaver as well.

Do these special PHP editor do anything special? If its just syntax highlighting etc then just use something such as Dreamweaver.

Re: looking for a php editor

Zend Studio remembers variable names and functions (custom and otherwise) throughout your entire site. Better debugging, intergration with databases. That's just off the top of my head...

If your just doing a small site with just a little php, it might not be that useful.

I'd reccomend giving it a go...

Re: looking for a php editor

You can get highlighting, etc., cheaper than Dreamweaver. I'm using something called Edit Pad which is quite good, and either free or very cheap. Just a text editor but has highlighting for php.

There are several good ones if you want to spend a moderate amount, in the L 100/$200 range. These have higher level functionality like debugging.

I use HTML-Kit for both my xhtml and php coding.

It has syntax highlighting and clicking on the preview will parse any php code in your pages and return error messages if there are any.

You can use it for css coding too but I use TopStyle as a preference.

It's available in a free and a Pro version but the Pro version is not exactly expensive.
