Re: Dreamweaver Templates

it doesnt seem to work like that for me i mean i am assuming that the idea of a template is that the editable regions are for editting different information for different pages and the non editable region id for changing all the generic information? if so hwo do i go about saving the pages seperately but maintaining the template?
i know i sound stupid lol

Re: Dreamweaver Templates

Is it an external template you have got, or is it one that is already from dreamweaver?

If it is the second, they all you do is open it, create your page and save, the next time you want the same page you just open it up the template again and save your second page etc.

If it is a template you have got in just a HTML file, then all you do is open it up, and then save as yourpage.html, just make sure you do not edit the original page.

Does this help?

Re: Dreamweaver Templates

it is a page i created myself then saved it as a template on dreamweaver, what i intend on doing is creating each page individually but not wanting to update the links etc on 20 or more pages everytime something is changed (tedious) would the use of a template prevent this and also how exactly would i go about saving the individual pages seperately once created?

im a pain in the beeehind i know lol

Re: Dreamweaver Templates

What you can do to avoid the hassle of messing around with the links is create a site in dreamweaver, this automatically updates links when you change the name of a file etc.

Go to Site on the top toolbar, then select manage sites. You will see a window with the current sites you have defined on dreamweaver. To add a new site click new, then navigate to the root folder of your site.

Having a site defined on dreamweaver allows you to make small changes to you site, such as changing the name of an image or a page, Dreamweaver asks you if you would automatically update links, allowing you to make small changes easily.

What you want to do is have a folder which is the root folder of your site, this is simply the main folder of your site where all your files are saved, what you do is just to save to this folder, and it is this folder that you define as your root folder on dreamweaver.

Hope this helps
