Smile Set up user profiles

Hi Im looking to make a website where members can edit their profiles like meaning they have their own sections and other members can subscribe to them sort of like YouTube does but I wont be doing videos. Also what tools would i use? Could I do it in Dreamweaver? If so how?

Thanks

What's the purpose? You could use a forum.

Re: Set up user profiles

Well I dont want to really have to give my idea away not meaning yourself directly of course but like people viewing posts. I use a different scenario for example a recipe site where members post their own recipes and in their profiles will be a list of their published recipes and they can "jazz" up their profile page with pictures and color and people can comment in their profile and on their recipes and subscribe to them where if say they publish a new recipe they get an email or a private message. Does this help in anyway the basic fundamentals of what I want are in this scenario anyway such as the user pages and subscriptions etc just not recipes

thanks again

Re: Set up user profiles

You could customize a forum.
As in when a user posts a recipe (a new thread) people can post comments on the recipe (replying to the thread).
Otherwise, I don't know of a package that suits your needs.

Re: Set up user profiles

This require you to have a high experience with MySQL Database with server side scripting like PHP or ASP. From what I understand with your question, it looks like you have no idea in both of this things, aren't you?

Once you know how to CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete), then leave it to your imagination to code them You'll be surprise.

Re: Set up user profiles

Well to put it one way I take occasional dives (and quite literally dives not dips ) into the web development world. I once made a site using HTML code in notepad that was like 2 years ago and am currently in my last year of college and doing web design in dreamweaver for a project although we only do a bit of html coding most of it is in design as everyone has different levels of experience as one would expect.

Anyway I will research what you mentioned in your post Monie by exploring posts on this forum and google.

Determination and the will to learn is all it takes right
