Data collection and graphical representation

Hello all,

First post on the board, so quick a hello and thanks to anybody who takes the time to read this and post a reply.

First of all let me just tell you that while I'm a newbie I can write a bit of basic html and and used to be able to write a bit of perl code back in the day.... right now I can probably cut and paste things together to get them working as I want.

All I want to do is to have a website where I (and a mate) can record how often we swim and the number and type of lengths we do. At the moment this is easy enough to do in Excel but I was thinking it would be a cool little project to make this web based and hopefully get it to chuck out a few graphs of our progress.

I'm not asking anybody to do coding or anything but if somebody who knows what they're talking about could let me know if this is possible and how best (read easiest) to do this - well, I'd be very grateful !

At the moment I have nothing at all, I'm just planning what I need to do.

- some form or method of inputting the data
- database to hold it all
- package to churn out a few graphs or stats

Let me know what you think,

Cheers

Chris

p.s. I'm listening to the Kings of Leon at the moment.

I was going to help you. Then I read this....

Just kidding.

Your best bet is to use PHP / mySQL. I know that at work we have some cool packages for generating graphs with PHP. I'll have to check on Monday what they are called...
