Newbie Question
Hi I can design websites with Golive but a client has asked if I can create a site where he can edit the words. I've searched high and low through all sorts of CMS applications but I don't really do much coding.
Can anyone help me here all they need to be able to do is change the words on a page or maybe even substitue a pic. Any ideas something simple for a humble graphic designers. D |

Re: Newbie Question
How about WordPress...it is a free open source CMS. Just upload the files and design a template to base the site off of.

Re: Newbie Question
Thanks for that really speedy response. With Wordpress are the templates easy to design and plug in. I've looked at things like Xoops and the like but they seem very complex. I'm really not very good at PHP so I'm concerned that any designs I do I wouldn't be able to keep them as fluid with the constraints (or should I say lack of knowledge) when it comes to the code bit.

Re: Newbie Question
I've got a wordpress blog and I don't think it was difficult at all. I'm not very good with things like that either. I selected from the many many designs that you can find and edited it here and there from the control panel. Honestly it wasn't that bad. I'd give that a go.

Re: Newbie Question
Contribute is always an option, though an expensive one. I assume it still exists?
Check it out anyway, it allwos you to lock certain elements liek the header, navigation, etc. but leave certain parts of the page editable using the software. It's quite clever and useful for smaller sites but it could push up the cost of a simple, low budget site. Pete. |

Thanks guys - very useful.
I think I'm going ot give the wordpress option a go. I've taken a look at it and it looks like (as some of you have stated) it should be quite easy. I'll report back. I have to say being new to this board I am really chuffed at the response to my question - thanks guys I'm hooked. Cheers D |
