Help! Stuck on a site

HI,

Im very new to creating sites (doing my first one) and im looking to do something but im really stuck.
Its a cake site with cakes being added all of the time. There are six images per page and lots of pages! I want to be able to just add an image and it goes on the first page first image. At the moment (using Dreamweaver) i have to move an image off the first page to make room then paste the new one in. Surely there is a way of just getting an image automatically to go into the first spec.

Also can i make a gallery radomly selct picturesfrom a gallery so everytime a user looks at a page they see a different picture?

Thanks in advance girls and guys

Cheers

Tom

Re: Help! Stuck on a site

To do this you would have to learn a programming language, i personally prefer PHP, then it could either look in a given directory and grab all of the images from there and display them, or you could have a database back end to have them display in order of being added.

Let me know if you need any more assistance or help with the coding, been a member of this forum for a while now, but just starting to help others :-)

Re: Help! Stuck on a site

easiest of things is learning VB aspx.net, but it ius the most costly of programing languegues.

What i would suggest is get mySQL database or a msSQL database and work with it.

If you need a quick page developed there are some image galleries out their you can use free-of-charge under the openSourse license or some great comericial quality ones you can buy.
