Hi All
I have a problem with a website the I have just built, it is a html website that uses flash buttons for the navigation. My problem is that I cannot change the link on each button from the default link which is 'index.html'. I need to link each button to a different pages that I have created. Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks Simon |

Re: Cannot change link on flash buttons
Do you have the files with the .fla ending though?

Re: Cannot change link on flash buttons
If you had a professional that is pretty good do the links for you he probably placed them in an xml document. So you should be able to modify that. If you don't see an xml document, then you will need that fla.

The button files and in .swf which i believe is a standard flash file?

No xml or fla files, the only files for this website are .html , .swf and .jpg / .png image files.
This is an html based website that uses flash .swf buttons in the menu. |

Re: Cannot change link on flash buttons
The .swf is just an un-editable movie. You need the .fla file to actually modify the Flash document.

As there is no .fla file can the .swf file be changed .fla??
This is a web template that i have modified as I was trying not to re-invent the wheel. Simon |

I'm going to hand this off to Jacob. He's the resident Flash expert.

Re: Cannot change link on flash buttons
You can hack/decompile the swf. This can get you into copyright trouble if you do not have the permissions to do so. The only program I know of that does this for you is by a company called sothink. Google them you will find their swf decompiler.

Re: Cannot change link on flash buttons
Sorry, have you created the buttons yourself or are you using premade ones? If you have made them yourself what did you use? Flash? Dreamweaver?

Hi guys the flash buttons come as part of the free template.
The makers of the template explain that you can modify anything on the page as long as their names is shown at yhe bottom of the page. Will google that site now! Cheers |

Re: Cannot change link on flash buttons
Fantastic I now have a .fla file by using the decompiler.
As I'm quite new to Flash, what do I do next? |
