London uni advice

Hi,

I wish to change my career into programming. However, I am not quite sure where to start. At first, i thought once i am specialized in one subject such as java or asp or php anything I wouldn’t need a degree. But after I've done a bit research, It is better to have a degree. Also, to specialize in one subject, I need to know so many other subjects and I believe a uni course would be great for me.

So, my questions (for now);
1-Which university in London would you advice me to join?
2-Is the age of 28 too late to start programming?
3- Is there any specific topic you think would be good to study? (games, graphic design etc)

I can only answer one of your questions so I'll take the age concern. You are never too old to learn. If you want to learn you will learn it's that simple. If your willing to put the time in then do it. Degree wise. I work with a few designers in the UK and US and only 2 have degrees. It's no esensial but it's up to the individual.

Google is another great university and it's free, just remember to put tutorial into you search.

Yep I agree. You are never too old to start. Plus you are not old...come on. Also the degree is only really needed if you are planning on working for a web development company. If you are going to be doing freelance it is not required, as all your clients care about is you portfolio. Although a degree is always a plus!
