Courses..help
I have just started on the road to being a web designer and when I say just started I mean I have just started looking at HTML.. Im very serious about this new career path and im going to need all the help and support I acn get.. Hope iv come to the right place. im sure I have. Anyway Id like to get the ball rolling and see if anyone can recommend and web design courses, something to help me start climbing this long ladder? I herd CIW are a waste of time but thats coming from a salesman of a company that dont do them, any ideas are VERY greatful.

Re: Courses..help
It's all learning by your own clock, really. Classes don't help much, but the following resources will get you started.
http://w3schools.com/xhtml/ http://w3schools.com/css http://css.maxdesign.com.au/ http://csszengarden.com Learn the simple syntax of XHTML first, then start diving into CSS. They both kind of rely on each other, but content (XHTML) is more important than style when you're first starting off. If you've got anymore questions, we're here to help! |

Re: Courses..help
This is the course I did, literally just finished it 2 weeks ago:
http://www3.open.ac.uk/courses/bin/p12.dll?C01TT280 I would highly recommend it. It's 12 weeks, no taught sessions, all distance learning, but with the support of a course forum to discuss the topics with other students and tutors. It assumes you to have some HTML knowledge before starting, but I (and many others on the course) didn't, so had to work extra hard alongside, learning basic coding using such resources and online tutorials as Ryan recommended. It teaches you all about standards compliance, accessibiliy, site structure, useability, navigation, maintenance etc. It's at degree level so it makes you work quite hard, but I learnt so much on it. I may yet go on and take the rest of the qualification that it forms part of. The next intake isn't till October though, so you've got plenty of time to learn coding before then! |
