Help with website structure

Hi,

I have been working on a website that has about 6 pages, all stored within a folder. this folder can be seen by webusers, and the directory structure viewed. I want to prevent this - is there a way to do this?

Just in case I haven't explained myself very well ...
Eg url: www.newsite.com
folder with all pages: content

the user can type www.newsite.com/content into the address bar and see all the pages!

Many thanks in advance for any help!!

I can't ... I get a 404 but if you want to block access to folder lists, just ask your host to that for you. Usually it's done automatically but ... just ask them.

Re: Help with website structure

Just give it a random folder name and don't link to it. If you set the page as ¨homedomain.com/ftreg/index.html then no one will find it. If you link to it then chances are that search engines will pick it up and it can be found.

The point is if you put your site in a folder name that isn't a word then chances are no one will ever stumble onto it.

You can also set permissions to it. right click the file and remove view permissions, unfortunately this will stop you from viewing it as well.
