Re: selling a product on website...
2CO is a good merchant as well. What you are looking for is to use someone else's merchant account so to speak. Paypal and 2CO are merchants, and they are processing your credit cards…and for that they take a “processing fee”.
Like Karinne said you can connect directly to your back account, IF you have a business bank account. Lots of times they charge a monthly fee for a merchant account, but it is much less then the processing fee 2CO charges. There are pros and cons with paypal, 2CO, and being your own merchant. If you want them I would be glad to tell them to you. |

Usability and costs are probably the cons. I've played with a couple and they're really difficult to modify.

Re: selling a product on website...
Well they coved it pretty much. But I will go into more detail.
Some of the nice things about 2CO is you can set it up to process though your website, so that the user does not have to leave your site. Also it is only a $50.00 one time fee. Then 2CO just takes a per-transaction fee. This is probably my favorite method as it is cheaper then creating your own merchant account, and much more customizable then paypal. Paypal free so to speak. No monthly rates unless you get the professional $15 dollar per month one. The advantage to this version is again the user would never see a paypal logo. But paypal has a nice free version for when you are first getting started; they just charge a small per-transaction fee. Next, being your own merchant has lots of advantages and disadvantages. It really just depends on what bank you go with and who you get the plan though. This option is normally cheaper on the per-transaction level, but the monthly fee will get you. But the nice thing is you have complete control. This option is nice if you can afford it and are making enough to support this system. I must say you do have complete control with this one, it is great. You can even get a terminal if you want. Any questions? I banged this out too fast so there might be a lot of errors...lol |
