Corel Draw X3 vs. Photoshop CS2/3
Hello all.
Yes, I'm a complete newbie at graphic design, and I was hoping that y'all could could help me with some decisions here. I currently am in the process of learning Photoshop CS2, and love it. I saw Corel Draw X3 Graphics Suite the other day though, and was wondering what are the differences between it and Photoshop CS2. Would it be worth getting the Corel Graphics Suite, or not bother? Also, can anyone tell me what are the new features/differences between Photoshop CS2 and CS3? Thank you for your help in advance! |

Re: Corel Draw X3 vs. Photoshop CS2/3
I use photoshop 7 and illustrator 10, if I were you, rather than buying Corel Draw, I would invest in Illustrator.
I used a very old version of corel draw and it wasn't a patch on the equivalent version of photoshop and illustrator combo. I'm guessing there's no massive difference between cs2 and 3, the odd minor feature or tweek here and there ( this has been the case between photoshop 6 / 7 / 8). |

I would say there would just be extra filters and brushes cause that's really all they done with 6 / 7 / CS / CS2.

Re: Corel Draw X3 vs. Photoshop CS2/3
i think it depends on what you are used to..adobe or corel. at the end of day they all produce the same thing - html, images, and plugins.
both products have their own plus and minuses. |

Re: Corel Draw X3 vs. Photoshop CS2/3
Sorry for the long wait. Bridge is such a useful app. It streamlines switching between files and offers quite a bit of other useful things like stock photos, etc. When you start using it, you'll wonder why no one thought of it before.

Re: Corel Draw X3 vs. Photoshop CS2/3
I use both Corel Draw X3 & Adobe Photoshop CS2. I find that Corel Draw X3 is much more simple to use than Adobe Photoshop CS2 but (I don't know if it is just me) but if I render gifs with clear backgrounds with any Corel Software they seem to be slightly furry but when I do the same thing in Adobe Photoshop CS2 it ends up perfect. Apart from that I am split between them. Usually Corel software is known to be cheaper... I got the whole graphics suite (X3) for just under £200 (on special offer) and I paid just over £200 for just Adobe Photoshop CS2 from Ebay last year. It depends on your budget at the end of the day.
