Contact Page

Hi,

I want to create a contact page for my website. The page will provide boxes into which people type their name, email, address, phone number, and their question/comments. Plus a tick box which provides an option of joining a mailing list.

I am creating my webpage in Notepad using XHTML and CSS, however I believe I need to use php to create the contact page. Ideally the information would be added to a database - but this may be too tricky for a beginner. If I can get the information sent via email to myself then I would be happy.

My question is, can someone point me to a good tutorial on how to create a contact page? I'm not sure where to start, so am looking to be pointed to some info I can learn from.

In the past I have simply put an email on my website with a mailto link - but I believe this leads to lots of spam. What is the general opinion on including a mailto, or just typing in your email address?

Many thanks,

Ruby

Re: Contact Page

Hi, thank you for this. I've started working through it, and hopefully will find some more time tomorrow to work on it. Sorry for the delay in replying.

Re: Contact Page

sorry to butt into someone elses thread, but this ( i think ) is a better one http://www.tele-pro.co.uk/scripts/contact_form/ - because you can add the fields simply, quickly and easily

Re: Contact Page

Don't forget that if you are going to keep personal details in a computer database that there is a requirement, accept under certain exceptions, to register under the Data Protection Act. You can do this online.
