To be 100% honest, you are far better modifying the sessions of YOUR application to use VB's..... it's not hard and is the usual way - mainly due to the complexity of VB.
Having a script double register has implications for username / password / profile detail changes.... etc, etc. VB can be modified EASILY in the admin area to collect whatever details you like during registration, so this makes it ideal for your application to integrate with for the user table and session control.
