i donno if advertising on a web design companys website would be a smart thing... i mean the only practical advertisements would be for other web design groups, meaning you get less buisness.

i would say in general for most sites that if you think the site is done and will get activity, put advertisments on it. But your site may be one of those exceptions...

Re: Can I?

You just need a popular site. When there are masses of free link exchanges people really dont need to advertise on a site that doesnt contain anything specific.
I dont know if its just me but it seems like your trying to do too much with that site, what you should be doing is splitting it up into other smaller sites, which will generate more revenue in total.
The fitness thing should be one, the webdesign should be one, the game should be one, you could make the religion side into one... you have far too much on one site, narrow things down and look at your overall goal in perspective.
Sorry bout that, just got carried away

Re: Can I?

it does seem very broad, but it's an interactive new media agency, covering a wide spectrum of such things that fall under that category. The games will eventually exist on their own site. But what you're essentially saying there is that someone like capcom shouldn't display all their titles. The religious section is supposed to be something that hopefully, if i keep working on it, will generate a lot of interest to the site. it's designed to be an attraction. i think a lot of design agencies will make something like that.

that said, it's quite possible it will all separate in time, when i can afford new sites.

Re: Can I?

This is an interesting debate actually. Is it good to have a broad site or not?

If you think about it, having a broad site means that you have a greater range of targeted vistors, who may be coming to your site for one thing and then seeing that there are other services on offer too, which are connected.

I feel quite strongly about this being a plus rather than a negative. I think that if i were to be able to attract visitors to my site with my fun religious section, that also opens up a lot of potential in everything else i offer, because they are bound to have a look at the other sections in time. As the company grows it might then be an idea to separate everything.
