search engine optimisation advice

Hi!

I'm new to this and I'm looking for help on optimising my website to get it higher up in the search engines. Has anyone got any tips? My site is http://www.doubleglazingontheweb.co.uk so i was thinking of trying to link it to sites on homes, gardening to find people interested in getting replacement windows, doors or a conservatory that they can order online. Does anyone know a low cost way to do this? Are directories a good idea?

I have found great advice just by browsing Google (type in "search engine optimization"). There are many articles on this topic. As for me, having well-structured sites seems to help. Use key words within the text on your page. Make sure links are working - internal and external. I always submit to any free directories - especially yahoo & google. I have never paid anyone, and many of my sites come up on the first page of Google. Good luck!
