want to learn

hi, i have been designing for a few months now, i basically rip and create themes for websites, so i am pretty handy with css and php. however i have been told it is useful to know other languages, and as i want to go into full website installs and the 'job lot' i need to start learning the ones i dont know, could someone please suggest a good place to start learning javascript
