problems with pop-up

Im hoping there is a real simple answer to this question.

Im trying to make it that when i click on a link, a new page opens with text in it, which I can do by using the _blank target, but the problem I am having is I dont want it to open a full page but just the size of the box of text. I hope that makes sense.

The only way that i know how to do it is by Javascript.

yes it is exactly what I am looking for but a IE problem.
If you go to

rudebar.co.uk

and on the homepage click the cider link it pops us nice and small with firefox, but full page with IE. Any ideas?
