Firefox Javascript problem

Hi,
This one has me completely stumped.
Im mid dev on this page -
www.shintoarena.com/new_layout/guest.html

Ie ( for once ) has no problem with this and displays all of the javascripting parts as expected.

but firefox seems to have a problem, and almost looks like its lagging.

I just cant work out why. Can firefox simply just not handle to much javascript and flash on the same page?

Re: Firefox Javascript problem

Click the login tab at the top, and try to scroll over the slight opaque grey boxes in the middle of the page.
There is lag in FF, but it works fine in ie.

Why is this?

I always thought it would be a cold day in hell before Firefox turned on me

Re: Firefox Javascript problem

Can I suggest that you validate your page, especially as you have chosen to use the tightest spec, xhtml 1.1, and fix all the errors.

It could be that as Firefox is less forgiving than IE that this is where problems are starting.

Re: Firefox Javascript problem

JavaScript animations in IE have always been way faster than Firefox/Safari/Opera. I had some animations via JS a while ago and it worked 2-3 times faster in IE6.

Re: Firefox Javascript problem

Maybe the problem is to do with lots of javascript and flash running on the same page? As it is in ie it looks fine & dandy. Although in firefox, safari, and opera I might have well of not bothered as it looks horrible with the page struggling to animate!

How can I sort this animation lag out? Maybe try losing some of the Javascript features? Or the flash?

Re: Firefox Javascript problem

The page is at 200k and you have images etc. to add?

My download speed tests at 3.5 Mbs and your page froze my browser tabbing for a good ten seconds.

Re: Firefox Javascript problem

Regardless, there's no real solution to speeding up JavaScript animations. IE is just naturally born fast with them. Who'd have thought, IE can do something better.

Re: Firefox Javascript problem

IE does a lot of things better. I think the FF/IE problem is heavily distorted by developer's dislike of Microsoft and/or support for open source.

They both suck for w3c compliance, but at least FF doesn't pretend it's doing it on purpose. IE sometimes does something different from w3c and then tries to get w3c to adopt it!
