Search Engine

Hi all,

I've been thinking of developing a search engine like in:
1. www.8bestsites.com
2. www.best4sites.net

..but have no idea at all..

So, does anyone here know:
-how to build this kind of web site(especially the search engine part)?
-where to get the source codes for building the search engine? I didnt find one..

Well forgive me if I'm in the wrong room, I'm a totally new kid here..

Any answers would be greatly appreciated..

building a search engine is a serious project that requires you thousands of hours of work and a team of people if you want something good. You'll then also need terabytes of harddisk and teraflops of processing power to be able to process the information.

If that wasnt enough, the market is saturated, you're never going to compete with the big boys so its almost a complete waste of time.

If your looking to learn how to program for the internet. Read some tutorials on php or asp.net and build yourself a small membership system, cms or shop. Each of those will provide all of the challenges you need to learn.
