Auto updating client

Hi all

I want to develop a web app that has data originating from 3 sources, the sources are:

1) Database
2) Web service
3) Web-server

When any of the data changes on any of these 3 sources I want it to be reflected in in my thin client. Is there a way the client can be updated automatically or will it require me to poll my server for changes which in-turn is also polling the three sources??

Any help appreciated.

Your server would need to poll the three sources unless they offer some kind of ping mechanism.

However as you control the thin client/server interfaction you could do a push mechanism to avoid polling at that level. Additionally this would allow the server to poll only once to each source rather than once per client.
