Problem with my laptop!!!

Hi There,

I am looking into a laptop which on switching on comes up with an error saying operating system not found.

The problem I think is it is some how not reccognizing the hard disk. So I tried to enter into the setup to check it out if it is enabled or not but the setup has a password which I don't know.

Does anybody know if there is a way of getting round to it?

Any help/suggestions much appreciated. Some where it says have to take off the battery and leave for 10 minutes so that it sets the password but not sure if it is a solution.

Did u drop the laptop lately? maybe the hard disk is out of place?, i mean maybe it isin't properly inserted because that usually happens if the pins of the disk isin't properly connected to the system. Try opening the laptop & push in the disk properly.. be sure u konow what you're doing! If that doesn't help, u'll probly have to re-install windows or whatever OS you're using but... try other options before you resort to that.

Yes pulling out the batter that keeps the CMOS powered will work. But as I understand it, this can be quite a pain to get to in a laptop....Good Luck!!

Thank you for your inputs...I will try them and let you know if I have any luck...Yeah it is a pain to open the laptop there are that many screws and it is a snap fit...the nuts go every where....
