A little helping hand

Hi i'm new to programming and can only do a bit of VB6

I'm trying to teach myself it at home which is not very easy and was wondering if anyone could give me any help on how i should approach the subject of learning the language.

Ideally i want to end up knowing C++ but at the moment thats just a pipe dream.

You all had to start some where and its just not easy doing it yourself but any help would be greatly appreciated i.e. Useful web pages, parts of simple code anything that i could learn off really.

Thanks in Advance

C++ it's a hugely complicated language in itself, it simply tends to build quite complicated applications and can become a little bloated.

I would suggest learning C-style programming languages in order to first get to grips with the syntax of C, such as Java, PHP or even Actionscript (Flash). Those languages and many others use the C-style programming. VB does not! So if you're really desperate to learn C++, I suggest you ditch VB.
