Please help me - and Hi to you all

Love the site buy the way,

I am a real average comptuter person who dabbles with a little dreamweaver to try and attempt to get my own website up and running.

Well, its not going to great, its all done to the spec that I want and when I preview the site in the dreamweaver browser its great and all the butoons link to the right page ect.ect. BUT when I upload to my FTP via dreamweaver using passive mode as instructed by by hoster, my site turns to S+++T , as you can see http://www.twosacompany.com

Problems: My Flash buttons dont appear, my pictures dont appear, my wav file only plays for a millisecond and my web counter doesnt show.

Only the standard text shows, as my flash buttons are the key to linking my other pages and contain the link to most of my content my wedsite looks bare.

Could you log onto my website and have a look for me, I can send anyone a screenshot of my dreamweaver files before uploading.

There is a definite christmas card in it for someone if they can lead me to success.

Listen Guys and gals - thank-you for at least reading this mail, I am sure someone is in the same position as me, yes this is my first attempt at web design and hosting.

Thanks techs

Hi herrlip...

First of all, welcome to our forums!

I think the problem you are having is that the images, etc are still referencing your 'my pictures' folder.

Put the images in the same folder as your webpages (on your computer)... change the image paths in dreamweaver to not reference a directory.... just the files. Then upload!!

Of course, you could put the images in a /images folder and have dreamweaver reference them from there.

The important thing to remember is that you must recreate the same folder structure on your website as dreamweaver is seeing locally.

I hope this helps you and once again, Welcome!

Post back if you need further help.

Ok, first off your image is linked to My Pictures/My Lotus.jpg You need to take off My Pictures or you need to move the image into that folder. You can find that image at www.twosacompany.com/My%20Lotus.jpg.

And this is where you are embedding your buttons.
Code: Select all
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0" width="103" height="24">
      <param name="BASE" value=".">
      <param name="BGCOLOR" value="">
      <param name="movie" value="../Jamie%27s%20Website/button19.swf">
      <param name="quality" value="high">
      <embed src="../Jamie%27s%20Website/button19.swf" width="103" height="24" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" base="." ></embed>
    </object>
If you look at the <embed src="../Jamie..... That is the location of your file to your page. Here you are telling the page that the Flash move is above the WWW (Folder that contains your website) Folder and is in the folder Jamie 27s 20Website and the file name is button19.swf. This is why your buttons are not appearing. You should put them in your WWW folder first off, and then secondly make sure they are located in the folder Jamie%27s%20Website And all you would need to do to get it up and running is to erase those little dots. Hope that helps you out and Welcome to the Forumz!
