Re: hello there....sitebuilder help?
Welcome to WebForumz.
Don't know what 'sitebuilder' is but it sounds like a 3rd party building programme which may have only 'published' the files to a location on your own hard drive (if you know different, please disregard). You need to upload the site to the webspace your host has provided you with. It's usual to make the name of your homepage 'index', so the browser will find it automatically in the root file. Make a note of the address of your hompage (something along the lines of http://YourHostingAccount/NewToThisS...File/index.htm [or 'html', as applicable]). Then go to your user control panel and look for the domain name you purchased. Where it asks you the address you would like it to point to, direct it to the address above (making sure you substitute all the rubbish I used for the actual address of your index page) and VOILA! Robert should now be your Mother's Brother. Last edited by Legacy_Staff; Jul 22nd, 2006 at 10:43. |

Re: hello there....sitebuilder help?
Thank you so much for your reply and yes it is a 3rd party program that came with my hosting account.
I have found my homepage which is indicated as an index.htm file...but I don't understand where on my control panel ( i have plesk 7.6) I go to make it point to the homepage. There is no where to enter that information. It does not ask where I want to point anything... |

Re: hello there....sitebuilder help?
Okies, copy the url of your homepage.
Then go back to where you bought the domain name. I have a couple with 123-reg (or something). I just visit their site, log-in, and find my user control panel. Then I go to the section that controls where I want the domain re-direct ("Manage Domains / Web Forwarding") and just point the domain name to my homepage url by filling in the relevant address box. Hope that helps. |

Re: hello there....sitebuilder help?
There are a couple of ways you can approach things.
If it's not already been done, within the Plesk control panel, you need to set up an FTP account. You then use this information within your FTP program to upload the files to your domains root directory (root as far as the web site is concerned). This is usually called .httpdocs'. This will be the most efficient way as you can upload all the files in one go. Alternatively, within your control panel, go into file manager, then into httpdocs. You will find a link that lets you upload a file. This is the other way to upload your site but it's a bit long winded as you can only upload one file at a time. Who is your host? |

Re: hello there....sitebuilder help?
If you are happy too, the best idea would be to PM me with your control panel access details so I can see what you see and then I could guide you. |
